This is the first in a series of chapter illustrations for the SAS Hermit short stories. The Uninvited House Guest can be read at
I chose to illustrate this moment because it is a static and awkward but yet peaceful scene in the story. The development of this work can be seen in my scraps gallery.
Credit: The character of Screamer is based on the model Laura from the photography of Valentin Casarsa's Alice in Wonderland Series, reproduced with kind permission. File no. 2286359 from iStockphoto.com
What I used: Adobe Photoshop CS3, Wacom A3 tablet, Imagine FX magazine, Gnomon workshop: Practical Light and Color, pencil, paper, protractor, scanner, Nine Inch Nails (Ghosts I-IV, The Slip), Queens of the Stone Age, The Bloodhound Gang, All of the Discworld Audiobooks by Terry Pratchett, Goldfrapp, Kylie (and in the flesh), Doctor Who, Marvel Comics/Films, and a unique knowledge of reality and it's dimensions.
How long did it take: er... ∞. I finished this last Tuesday, but I'm not due to begin it until a week on Thursday. Alright let's say a couple of months on-and-off (including that Friday morning back in the 13th Century). The joys of being temporally displaced
Thanks to: Tobais Gould, (The man behind the words), for the inspiration, Becky Pritchard for the faith, Samantha Doll and my friends on DA, the reprobates in Laser, Lois Bell for her little smiles and being a joy in the world.
I'm very glad you like it. I'm working on v2.0 as I write this, which is gonna be a little different. Thank you so much for the comment.

Well thank you kind lady. I glad you like my artwork I can see why it doesn't get much attention, it is a selective subject, (meaning it's an illustration for an obscure story that is a little dark it has to be said), it's difficult to "pigeon-hole" because it's an illustration of a fictional story but it's not fantasy or sci-fi, it's also not painted in a conventional digital painting manner. But to gain it more attention by DA members in general, it would have to be nominated for a Daily Deviation. All I can do at the moment is attract pageviews by buying adcast campaigns, it's expensive and attracts a lot of people and it makes my work known but more importantly people who visit my page and select "watch this deviant" and leave nice comments, or send me nice notes, or do artworks I like I usually add to my friends list

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
